Parramatta fullback Michael Gordon has indicated a mid-season move to Sydney Roosters could still be on the cards as the Eels continue to deal with their NRL salary cap dramas.

Gordon has been strongly linked to a transfer to the Roosters this season and 18 days remain for the former NSW representative to move east before the June 30 deadline.

"It's still up in the air at the moment," Gordon told Triple M on Sunday.

"There's always speculation and until I have the piece of paper in front of me, I'm still playing for the Eels.

"I came over (to Parramatta) with no guarantee of what was going on and we have a couple of great young players ready to jump in as soon as I go."

Rookie Latrell Mitchell has filled in well at the back for the Roosters following Roger Tuivasa-Sheck's off season defection to the Warriors.

Mitchell is battling an ankle injury and was down on involvement in the Roosters 46-0 loss to Melbourne on Saturday.

There is concern amongst Roosters coaching staff of the load on Mitchell in his first season in the NRL. If Gordon moves to the Roosters, that would free up Mitchell to move to the wing.

Goalkicking has been one of the Roosters' bigger problems this season and Gordon, would also be able to alleviate that situation for the struggling Tricolours.

Gordon has played 192 NRL games. He moved to the Eels this season after three years with Cronulla. Before that the 32-year-old spent seven seasons with Penrith.
