Wayne Bennett says it would be unfair if winger Semi Radradra copped an NRL ban for breaking his Parramatta contract.
Eels great Peter Sterling says there must be consequences if Radradra does not see out his contract after rumours emerged that the Fijian flyer is considering a switch to rugby union in France.
But veteran Brisbane coach Bennett said it would smack of double standards after Parramatta moved on contracted hooker Nathan Peats to clear salary cap space earlier this year and ensure they could resume playing for competition points.
"When it goes the other way and the player doesn't want to fulfill his part of the contract we all cry poor - I have always found a great unfairness in that," Bennett said.
Parramatta are still hoping Radradra will return from his native Fiji ahead of Saturday's NRL clash with Cronulla.
