Exciting Parramatta flyer Bevan French has been praised by Wallabies star Israel Folau, after the Eels wideman equalled his record of seven tries in his first four NRL games.
The nephew of prolific former Kangaroos and St George Illawarra winger Nathan Blacklock, 20-year-old French has shown a similar aptitude and nose for a four-pointer as former Melbourne Storm and Brisbane star Folau.
"I saw his highlights last week against the Sharks and he's certainly someone that has great wheels and is a good finisher," said Folau, who set his record as a Storm player in 2007.
"Watching the NRL across this year there's some great finishers and he's just one of them.
"Good on him and I wish him all the best."
Asked what advice he would give French Folau said: "Sometimes you can get caught up in all the hype and that.
"But just making sure that you keep your head down and work hard to try and be consistent.
"It looks like he's doing that so far, so that's good."
Folau on Thursday also said he thought another player with Parramatta connections, Jarryd Hayne, would do well if he opted to try his hand at 15-a-side rugby.
The former San Francisco 49ers NFL player is currently trying to earn a place in Fiji's Olympic sevens rugby squad, but has yet to nominate which code and club he will play in 2017.
